Nikon Coolpix S70

Nikon announces the new Nikon Coolpix S70. It is a compact digital camera with touch screen OLED display. OLED is better than LCD because it is brighter and more color accurate than LCD.
The Nikon Coolpix S70 is a 12.1 megapixel camera with 5x zoom. The touch screen controls features Touch Shutter and Scene Effect Adjustment.

The lens is a 28-140mm which is wide enough for landscape. Take note of the aperture though, it features F/3.9-5.8 which isn't all that great.

I don't know how fast the touchscreen interface is, but from my experience with other cameras with a touchscreen interface like Sony. They suck big time. They're usually slow and harder to get to the menu you want right away. I could be wrong, I haven't tried the Nikon Coolpix S70 yet. But I'll post more details once I get a chance to play with it.

But even if the touchscreen is good enough, the F/3.9 aperture sucks big time. Panasonic's Lumix LX3 can do F/2.0. My Canon SD880 can do F/2.8 and this one does F/3.9? What's up with that?

If you understand aperture, the lower the number the better either for low light shooting or for better blurring of the background.

Who knows, maybe this camera is fast enough at F/3.9. I guess well see once the review comes out.
